Standing in the heart of Aska Town, the origin of Niranjan Govt.Women’s’ College can be traced back to 6th September, 1980. With the awakening of consciousness for education for all in the state, this part of southern Odisha was lagging behind in this respect. Women, being the equal partner should not be neglected any more. The necessity of Higher Education for Women at Aska was long felt as there was only one Women’s college in the entire Berhampur University, was present i.e., the Govt. Women’s College, Berhampur. The College has been named after the eminent freedom fighter, Late Shri Niranjan Patnaik of Aska. It was inaugurated by Shri J.B.Pattanaik, the then Chief Minister of Odisha. The contribution of the local people for the development of the college has been incomparable. The college imparts education in Arts Stream only at the Degree level. The Higher Secondary wing imparts education in Arts and Science. A new era in the history of the college started when the Govt. took over the management of the college on 1st February 1993. Since then the college is known as Niranjan Govt. Woman’s’ College,Aska. The college is shifted to its new campus at Khambeswari Patna after its inauguration by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sj. Naveen Patnaik on 10th January, 20
