WELCOME TO ST WERBURGHS CENTRE

Based in St Werburghs in East-Central Bristol, we serve the local communities of Ashley, Easton and Lawrence Hill wards and communities of interest across the city. The Centre is managed by the St Werburghs Community Association, which aims to provide accessible and affordable meeting rooms and facilities for individuals, community groups and voluntary organisations.

We focus on building mutually beneficial partnerships between residents, groups and organisations in the community. In support of this, we run free events and projects, and deliver grant funded services for local people, current to include Raking & Baking (8-week cooking and gardening courses), St Werbees Stay & Play (a weekly group for pre-school children and their grown-ups), Tai Chi for over 50's, Easy PC (one-to-one sessions and group computer classes for beginners, older people, and people who are looking for work), Picnic in the Park, Festive Friends, Open Volunteer Gardening Days and Christmas Market. We have free open access computer lab in our lobby with free wi-fi and we support people in applying for jobs online, printing and formatting CVs and writing cover letters. We also have other organisations based in the Centre who are working within the local communities.

The Community Centre has been operating on this site since 1971 and in 1999 was registered as a charity and company limited by guarantee. In June 2010 we completed £1m Capital Project and in November 2010 we achieved the VISIBLE CommunitiesTM accreditation which is a quality systems standard for the charity and community sector distributed by Community Matters. In November 2013 we won the Community Venue of the Year Award at 'Voscurs', Bristol's Voluntary & Community Sector awards. In January 2016 we have been awarded Silver in the Green Tourism 'Conference Venue' Category.

OUR FACILITIES

If you are looking for fully accessible meeting rooms for hire, would like to run a regular class, hold a business conference or host a family party - St Werburghs Centre has plenty of space for it all.

St Werburghs Centre offers rooms within its characterful Victorian building or contemporary and eco-friendly Annexe. Our meeting rooms for hire are all wheelchair accessible. There is a large hall with wooden floors and double height windows, a fully equipped commercial kitchen and a variety of medium size rooms suitable for classes, meetings or workshops. Our eco-friendly modern annexe at the rear consists of four rooms with underfloor heating, which are ideal for classes, community meetings, training or private party hire.

We have recently created a welcoming outdoor insect-themed garden for break outs and social events. There is comfortable seating space, parasols, play equipment and raised beds for our gardening project, which provide greenery all year round. Children can get a Poppies trail from our reception to search for 93 poppies, which commemorate old scholars listed on our First World War memorial. There is a herb spiral, a bug hotel and vegetable gardens which provide crops for our cooking classes. The Neck of the Woods Cafe provides catering and bar for events as well as serves walk in customers Monday to Saturday.
