This Jeep is taken to Misgar in 1931

This is one of the two Citreon company special jeeps that come to Gilgit in 1931 as part of the yellow Expedition or “Pamir Group, “also referred to the “Trans-Asiatic Jeep rally 1931-1932”. It is displayed at Citreon Museum France. These Jeeps drove from Beruit in Lebanon to Misgar Gojal, Upper Hunza from where Onwards the mission was called on declaring the terrain to be unsurmountable. Mission was to reach kashghar and link up with china group reaching kashghar from Beijing in same kind of vehicles under Col.Point. Vehicles were sent back. One gifted to Gilgit scouts and the other de-assembled and taken to France. Above is its picture where the vehicle is on displayed at Citreon company museum. The mission Leader Mr. Georges-Marie Harrdt and National Gel graphic society expedition correspondent / photographer Mr. Maynard Owen Williams and their French team left Misgar I September 1931 on 80 camels and 60 horses to reach kashghar after three weeks.

One of the most fascinating chapters of our history. They were the first automobiles to have reaching Gilgit.
